High Quality Veterinary Care for Your Best Friend

Veterinary wellness exams play a critical role in ensuring that pets stay healthy by allowing veterinarians to catch potential problems in their early stages and perform important preventative procedures for long-term wellness. Routine exam appointments at Companion Pet Hospital include a thorough physical examination of your pet from nose to tail, combined with any scheduled vaccinations and parasite prevention testing or products that may be recommended for your pet. Wellness exams also give you an opportunity to ask your vet any questions you may have about your animal's health or behavior, and to discuss your pet's nutritional and exercise requirements.

Throughout your pet's routine wellness exam our vets will use Fear Free and/or Low Stress Handling techniques to keep your pet relaxed and comfortable

Vaccinations

Current vaccinations play a large part in keeping your pet healthy and free from disease; however, not every pet requires the same series or frequency of vaccines. At Companion Pet Hospital, our veterinarians tailor a vaccine protocol specific to your pet based on his or her age, lifestyle and individual risk factors. Vaccines are administered through a subcutaneous injection (under the skin), orally, or intra-nasally, depending on the vaccine.

Parasite Prevention

Parasites pose a serious health threat to both people and animals in the Philadelphia, PA area. If left untreated, parasites can threaten the life of your cat or dog, and in some cases can even be transmitted to other pets or people living in your home. Parasite prevention products from our vets at Companion Pet Hospital can help protect your dog or cat from common parasites such as fleas, ticks, ear mites, heartworms, roundworms and tapeworms.

Puppy & Kitten Care

It is a big, exciting step to decide to bring home a new puppy or kitten. Our veterinarians provide guidance, advice and the highest quality of veterinary care during your puppy’s or kitten's critical first year of life. We'll give your new best friend a complete physical examination, appropriate immunizations and deworming medication. We will also test for intestinal parasites to make sure your new family member is off to a healthy start!

Microchipping

Microchipping is a simple procedure in which a microchip (about the size of a large grain of rice) is injected under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. It only takes a minute to be completed, and no anesthesia is required. The microchip, which can be read by any universal scanner at vet practices and shelters nationwide, is registered in a national database. That means if your pet is ever lost, you’ll be able to locate them and be reunited. What a quick and easy way to give you peace of mind!

Interstate and International Health Certificates

As a federally accredited veterinarian practice, Companion Pet Hospital in Philadelphia can issue travel health certificates (Certificate of Veterinary Inspection) for your healthy cat or dog so that they may travel with you. Health certificates are federal documents that indicate your pet is healthy to travel and won’t pose a health risk to other pets or people. Animal health requirements may differ based on state or country; even airlines may have their own pet travel requirements. We will work with you to determine the health certificate requirements based on your travel destination.
