Pet Surgery by vet

Cutting-Edge Pet Surgical Services

At Companion Pet Hospital in Philadelphia, we’re equipped to provide cats and dogs with high-quality surgery in a safe, stress-free, and relaxing environment. Our highly skilled veterinary staff focuses on patient safety, comprehensive pain management, and employing the most current surgical techniques.

Our experienced veterinarians maintain the education and skills to practice the safest and most effective surgical methods in the industry.

At Companion Pet Hospital, every pet requiring surgery and anesthesia undergoes a thorough physical exam and mandatory pre-anesthetic blood work to avoid the risk of complications during surgery and recovery. In some cases, we may also perform thoracic radiographs (X-rays) to evaluate your pet’s heart and lung health prior to a procedure. Several factors are considered when assessing a patient for surgery, including age, breed, medical history, and the expected recovery and quality of life afterward.

Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides our team with a sterile environment to perform various procedures for Philadelphia pets, including spays, neuters, dental cleanings, mass removals, gastropexies, cystotomies (bladder stone removal), laceration repairs, and more.

Our veterinary care team will counsel you on how to prepare your pet for the procedure.

All pets undergoing surgery at Companion Pet Hospital are treated with the same careful precautions and meticulous attention, including the use of an IV line and constant monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and oxygen.

Pain Management

Proper pain management involves pre-anesthetic, intra-operative, and often post-operative intervention, including oral medication to go home. A comprehensive pain management protocol avoids needless pain and discomfort and ensures timely wound healing. Our staff will provide instructions for nursing your pet through its recovery, from activity restrictions to wound dressing changes. Your pet may also receive follow-up evaluations with our veterinary care team to confirm their recovery is on track and without complications.

When you bring your pet to Companion Pet Hospital in Philadelphia, you can rest easy knowing that they are in the hands of skilled veterinary surgeons who provide the highest standard of surgical expertise and compassionate care you can find.
